      Description

VS2015 apparently dropped support for old addin-style extensions, and focuses on VSPackages. The Qt addin should be ported over to the "new" format (it has been around for some time) to support future versions of Visual Studio, such as the new 2015 edition (version 14), which will be released 20th of July.

We are able to use Qt with Visual Studio 2015 as follow.

          • Install VS2012 or VS2013 and the current Qt Add-in
Set up your project as a Qt Project there.
          • Open project in VS 2015, update the compilers and build.
          • If you need to add/change any Qt related source files, or change the Qt Version, open the solution in VS2012 and do that, only you must return to 2015 for compilation.
          • Gotchas:
          • when changing Qt Version delete *.vcxproj.user files from your project
          • then open in VS2012, select "Change Solution's Qt Version", and change to new Qt Version
          • Hit Save All (These two steps force generation of new vcxproj files.
Things to check if you have problems:
          • Be aware of your QT_DIR, and QT_PLUGIN_PATH settings.
          • Also be aware of Registry settings contained at HKCU\Software\Digia...

Hi all, can you update us on any timeline for 2.0 to be available in some form? Looks like it didn't make Qt 5.7 & I'm not sure if it is slated for anything specific yet.

          Cheers!

This is still not ready and I won't predict anything to be proven wrong. On the positive side, this is not bound to a Qt release which means we are not bound by Qt's release cycle. We can be more flexible and release when the addon work is done.
