When compiling thousands of c++ files, the "Building:" progress meter shown with "--show-progress" is stuck at 87% the whole time.  Very accurate estimates are not critical, but at least a rough estimate would be great to see, along with an ETA. For example, in our case there are thousands of static files known to be compiled; the only build-time generated files are from "moc" for a fraction of the full set, so lots of progress movement should be possible in our case.
