      qtbase/src/corelib/io/qdatastream.cpp
      // ### 5.0: when streaming invalid QVariants, just the type should
// be written, no "data" after it

      If this can be done without breaking source-compatibility and reading of old saved datastreams, it should be done before Qt 5.0.0. If not, the comment should be removed or changed to a Qt 6 to-do.
