mp4 video files do not play in qt 5.7.0

in qt 5.5.1 (windows) after building the example http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qtmultimedia-multimediawidgets-player-example.html one could load .mp4 video files to it and play without any problem.

in qt 5.7.0 (windows) the same example do not play the video files any more. I think it is related to absence of plugins\mediaservice\wmfengine.dll plugin in 5.7.0 distribution. However according to this http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qtmultimedia-windows.html in particular "Consequently, WMF plugin in Qt is supported only for Windows Vista and later versions of the operating system." one would expect wmfengine to be available on new operating systems (I am using windows 7).

What is needed to make qt5.7 play .mp4 (and other) video files?
