B2Qt default screen instead of Demo Launcher in Qt 6.0

    XMLWordPrintable

    Details

    • Epic Name:
      B2Qt default screen for Qt6
    • Platform/s:
      Linux/Yocto

      Description

      Challenges with Demo Launcher

B2Qt Demo Launcher is at the end of lit's life, updating the launcher with new demos is too much of a hassle (not happening in a timely manner) and very few customers actually need the Demo Launcher as it is today.

      Instead, in B2Qt we need

      1. Something that after flashing the device shows that the device is alive and flashing was successful
      2. Instructions on how to flash your preferred demo to the device so that the demo survives power recycle of the board (pointers to documentation?)
      3. Instructions on how to find snappy demos and examples in Qt Creator (and Qt Design Studio)
      4. We may need some settings view, with IP address and for connecting to a WiFi?

      Design requirements

      Use new brand colors (brand.qt.io)
      Use 'Built with Qt' logo
      Looks professional and modern
Can be run on both small and big displays up to HighDPI

      Schedule

We need this for Qt 6.0 as the current Qt5 based demo launcher cannot be feasibly used for 6.0 B2Qt (QTBUG-77778).

      Effort

      Initial estimate is very small
