This bug was reported sometime back in fedora https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=540411 Meera font uses ascent and descent values different from latin fonts. So default size is smaller compared to latin glyphs. We use a fontconfig scaling directive to compensate for this and it works in gnome and emacs but kde/qt apps does not respect this scaling request. As a result we get very frequent complaints from user. Please consider this as a high priority request for Malayalam users.
