Description
As part of the GUIDe implementation, installer shall display hardware partner-specific components to allow the users to easily discover and install them.
- The hardware partner-specific components shall be distinguished from the default set visually. The attached file presents two layout alternatives to discuss and build up from. guide-mockup.pptx
- The second alternative selected on account of simplicity (no need to dynamically add/delete headers).
- Installer layout shall be slightly adjusted to display the top of third row of installables as an extra affordance in addition to the scrollbar.
Things to resolve:
- naming of the evaluation installables - the "90 days evaluation"-label is inappropriate because it is static and may be misinterpreted.
- use of something more general "limited" / "restricted" / "extended" evaluation would be more applicable to all scenarios.
- visibility of the evaluation installables - they are tied to a specific Qt framework version, which is not shown unless tweaked to be (the non-current set of installables is archived).
- see problem statement & solution investigation at: QTIFW-3674 - Investigate use of aggregated archive file
- the first few evaluation packages can be dealt with without an automated solution, but one is needed to scale up and to eliminate unnecessary special case-treatments.
